Artists singing in my homeland native language Ewe (Guingbé)
Dear All,
Even if I am a fervent supporter of the Nigerian cultural industries, it always feels good when you listen to an artist who brings you back home. Ewe is a native language that is spoken in the South of Togo, the south of Ghana and some parts of Benin.
My father is from Anecho where we speak “Guingbé” which is basically a mix of Ewé and Fanti. The songs I am going to post remind me of my childhood in Lomé and my trips to Accra.
The first artist that I am introducing is Shatta Wale (Charles Nii Armah Mensah Jr.) , who was invited to sing on the Gift, the album released by Beyoncé Knowles Carter for the Lion King. The second one is Stonebwoy (Livingstone Etse Satekla) , a young Ghanian artist who released last month a new jam featuring Miss Keri Hilson. She is back to music and we missed her.
Enjoy !
